A honest guy, very knowledgeable about cars. Good price. I'm pleased car was surging, he cleaned throttle body my 2003 Polo good as new!!!!;
I took my car in for a fault with my front lights - I was quoted 350 and advised that I needed a new fuse board. My partner told me to get a second opinion because if the fuse board wasn't working, surely all of the lights wouldn't work. Low and behold, the second mechanic quoted me 32 and all that was wrong was a loose connection. I rang Transport Maintenance asking why they advised what they did, the reply was "we must have missed that". Disgusted how companies who mainly rely on word of mouth were happy to rip me off. I was very nearly 300 out of pocked - I'm glad I went elsewhere.
A small team of Friendly, knowledgeable people who are happy to accommodate whenever they can. We've got to support local garages like this one before they all disappear, and we're then forced to use the large faceless dealerships...
Very surprised by last review. Have used this garage countless times over the last 7 years nearly akways dealing with the owner Ken. They have always been honest, reliable, courteous and good value for money. Would recommend.
My experience with this place was very bad. They wasted a day of my time that I had taken off work, which cost me money and I was left with the job not done and an under the table offer by a guy called Tony to do the job himself for cash in his spare time. I called them a few days earlier to ask for an estimate for servicing an Eberspacher heater and to replace the old metal box it was housed in under my van. It was quite a straightforward job, for which I was given a very specific quotation by two other Eberspacher dealers. In particular, to replace the box under the van, another dealer told me that they couldnt see how it wouldve taken more than half an hour. This guy called Tony told me that he could not give me an estimate on the phone and he asked me to pop in (one hour travelling distance each way for me) to see exactly what was to be done. As soon as he put his hands on my van, he told me that there was a major problem with the airflow (no one else ever noticed anything wrong with the airflow before) and after touching something under the van, he immediately told me that the heater was overheating and that the whole thing had to come off. I clearly told him that I needed to have the box replaced and the heater serviced and he gave me an appointment for the following week.When I returned the following week, this Tony guy told me straightaway that he didnt have much time and that replacing the box was out of the question, because it was a job that wouldve taken AT LEAST three hours, maybe four. Now I dont really know whats involved, but two different estimates by two different Eberspacher garages, one of half an hour and another one of four hours, seem to be a bit too far apart. For those who are not familiar with this kind of job, its only a small metal box to be attached to the bottom of the van with four screws, so honestly I really cannot see how that could take four hours. Then he told me that the exhaust pipe of my heater was gone and it needed replacing. He took the time to tell me that the exhaust pipe costs 40 per metre and that I needed 2 metres, so that wouldve been 80 added to my bill, not counting the time he wouldve charge me to replace it. It didnt take me long to find out that the exact exhaust pipe I needed was for sale to the general public for 15 per metre. This guy is a joke, a joke that already cost me a lot of money without him even doing anything, because when I dont go to work, I dont get paid and my day off was gone by now. At this point he said he would have gone to have a word with his boss Ken, to see if he could make time to help me out (4 hours). Ten minutes later he came back telling me that all of a sudden his busy day wasnt so busy anymore and that they could do the job for me, but of course not counting on the fact that I had absolutely no intention of dropping 400+ there for a job that I was quoted a fraction of that. At this point it didnt take long for Tony to offer me to do the job himself for cash for much less on his time off. What shocked me the most is the fact that this is an authorised Eberspacher servicing agent. Now I have no idea if this company works always like this, or if I was unlucky to happen to deal with this particular person, which as I understand is the only person in that garage who works on Eberspacher heaters. What I know is that they cost me money and my experience was awful. Never again and I discourage anyone to have anything done at this garage.
