7 months old bike had a turn and caused lots of damage on the bike. The guy at Giant was very quick to tell us that my son "obviously" jumps with the bike as it had several scratches. He uses it to commute to school with... The Giant guy pretty much made it sound like he knows better and "he has been fixing bikes for over 10 years"... guess he meant we were lying! They then gave us a long list of things that needed to be done/replaced, coming to nearly 300 (the bike was 375 new). After a lot of complaining and begging they agreed to scrap the labour costs, but we weren't convinced so took the bike to Evans where they're fixing it for 150! Go somewhere else before you decide to give them your money!
Recently took my old hardtail there to get a quote in order to make it roadworthy. To their credit they did a thorough job of giving the bike a good look over and listing everything that supposedly needed replaced / fixed. I was quite taken aback when the initial quote came to over 2 thirds of what I spent on the bike in the first place (the bike at the time of writing is 6 years old). I decided to take the bike to Hargroves cycles in Chichester where they have just successfully serviced the bike to full working order for just over 200. I am not a mechanic hence my reliance on bike shops to fix stuff - but I am experienced in basic wear and tear and had I gone with Giant I fear I'd be paying through the nose for what turned out to be minor fixes. I was also met with a sarcastic raise of he eyebrows when I mentioned how much I'd spent on the bike in the last few months - not a great way to treat a first time customer. Surrey is chock a block with fantastic bike shops so I'll be giving Giant a miss for the foreseeable future. This review is based on my personal experience.
Outstanding bike fit from Mitch - he is so knowledgeable about the mechanics of the body, and soft tissue/ligaments in particular. He spent ages getting it just right and was never in a rush. Bike now feels great. I cannot recommend the value that this 120 delivers more highly. You will not be disappointed! Simon
New to cycling and having done a few hundred miles, I thought I might benefit from a bike fitting as I have had several injuries over the years (broken neck, ACL ruptured twice, Cartilage damage in both knees etc etc) but was slightly sceptical as to the depth of knowledge I would encounter. I went in and spoke with Mitch, who, very quickly alleviated my concerns and I booked the fitting. Having had my cleats adjusted, seat raised considerably and handle bar stem shortened my first outing was a trip from Le Harve to Cherbourg. All went well, no back pains anymore and a noticeably difference in my power output. Excellent job Mitch, I would thoroughly recommend the fitting (and Mitch). Thank you
Nice store but the staff are disinterested at best in handling customers. Please hire some people that care about customers.
